What Makes ECOMAX Safe & Eco-friendly?
Readily Biodegradable Cleaning Agents
Each Ecomax product has been extensively tested by the Standards and Industrial
Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM) using international biodegradability
testing procedures (OECD 301A and OECD 301D).
Ecomax products are certified with the Eco-Label Mark by SIRIM QAS International
Sdn. Bhd. ensuring that all cleaning agents are 100% readily biodegradable
(breaks down easily in the environment).

No Harmful Ingredients
Ecomax does NOT contain the following ingredients:
Phosphates
& nitrates: |
that cause algae bloom in
waterways that leads to lack of oxygen for aquatic life |
Optical brighteners:
|
that do not readily biodegrade, toxic
to aquatic life |
Nonylphenol: |
that is slow to biodegrade and cause
reproductive defects in aquatic life |
Formaldehyde: |
a carcinogenic, respiratory irritant |
Chlorine: |
that is harsh on skin & surfaces,
toxic to the environment, and considered to cause reproductive, endocrine
& immune system disorders |
Solvents: |
that are neurotoxins and nervous system
depressants |
Zeolites: |
which are totally non-biodegradable |
Ecomax’s ingredients are non-irritating
and safe to use on human skin.
Colourant-free
Ecomax contains no colourants, making it even safer. The colours you see
are a natural result of combining ingredients. Please note that these
colours may change naturally over time, but product efficacy remains unaffected.
Eco-friendly Fragrances
Ecomax’s fragrances are eco-friendly and non-toxic. Each fragrance
is specially designed by experienced perfumers to meet the European Union
Eco-Label Safety Standard at the time of development.
Recyclable Packaging
Ecomax packaging materials are easily recyclable and the small concentrated
sizes use less resources to recycle.
Less Foam
All Ecomax products are low- to moderate-foaming. The higher a product
foams, the more water is required for rinsing. With less foam, Ecomax
reduces rinse time and helps conserve one of our most precious resources
– water.
Ultra-concentrated
Ecomax products are highly concentrated, thus requiring less per application.
This means less waste is discharged into the environment.
Some things you MAY
NOT but SHOULD know about household cleaning products…
Health Effects of Toxins in Household
Products
Our bodies absorb toxins either through the
skin, by swallowing or by breathing them in. Different chemicals and different
degrees of exposure produce different effects on the body. There are 3
types of effects:
1) Acute Effects
Acute effects occur when someone absorbs/swallows/inhales a poisonous
substance such as kerosene or chlorine bleach. Symptoms of acute poisoning
are very obvious and occur almost immediately. Sometimes the effects are
less obvious such as skin rashes, headaches and breathing difficulties.
These symptoms may be short lived or chronic. They may recur when the
person comes in contact with the chemical again - often more severe with
repeated contact.
2) Chronic Effects
Chronic effects of toxic household cleaning products are often quite subtle
and difficult to link to the chemical exposure. Symptoms may include migraine,
depression, giddiness, nausea, or high blood pressure.
3) Long-term / Delayed Effects
Long-term or delayed health effects of household products tend to fall
under 4 categories: carcinogens, reproductive toxins, endocrine disrupting
chemicals and immune system toxins.
- Carcinogens –
Cancer-causing substances. Carcinogens cause cancer by altering or damaging
cell DNA. There are a number of carcinogens in common household products.
These substances may be in small amounts, but over time, the cumulative
effect can lead to cancer.
- Reproductive Toxins
– Chemicals that affect human reproductive capability. Fortunately
there are not many reproductive toxins found in household products.
One such chemical, 2-butoxyethanol, appears in a number of spray cleaners,
window cleaners and other products.
- Endocrine Disruptors
– Chemicals that alter the function of the endocrine system (i.e.
hormone system) and consequently cause adverse health effects. Many
household cleaning products contain endocrine-disrupting chemicals.
One of the largest groups of endocrine disruptors is known as nonyl
phenols and their ethoxylates, found in many cleaning products.
- Immune System Toxins
– Toxic chemicals can also affect our immune system. One class
of immune disorders is allergic reactions, such as asthma and food allergies,
some of which may be minor, others fatal. Damage to the immune system
can have far-reaching consequences, leaving an individual to bacteria,
virus or cancer attacks, and even the possibility of developing HIV/AIDS.
Therefore, it is important that we make the
right decision when selecting household cleaning products. Choose wisely,
use Ecomax, the eco-friendly household range that provides effective cleaning
power without compromising your safety & nature’s well-being.
DO YOU KNOW THAT YOU ARE CONSTANTLY EXPOSED
TO TOXIC, HAZARDOUS HOUSEHOLD CLEANING PRODUCTS?
Do you know what’s in our household
cleaners? What are they made of?
Most of the time, there are no ingredients listed on the package, so you
probably have no idea what type of harsh, harmful chemicals you are being
exposed to.
Beware of products that are ‘seemingly’
effective yet extremely cheap.
These products use extremely cheap chemicals that are harsh and hazardous
to you and the environment. Is it worthwhile to risk your health and your
loved ones’ over a few dollars of savings?
You are exposed to household cleaners
in every aspect of your lives!
YES! Both directly and indirectly. From skin contact with detergents when
washing clothes and dishes, to walking on floors with chemical residue
from floor cleaners, to inhaling pungent fumes from toxic cleaners (e.g.
bathroom cleaners), and even skin contact with clothes that may have detergent
residue left on them!
These cumulative exposures to toxic, hazardous
chemicals put our health at risk and may lead to various problems such
as contact dermatitis, sensitive skin, respiratory, endocrine and immune
system disorders, and even cancer.
DO YOU KNOW THAT 90% OF THE WORLD’S
FRESH WATER IS CONTAMINATED? (Fresh water is only 2.5% of global water,
therefore ONLY 0.25% is safe for drinking!)
Household cleaning products are discarded
into the environment, EVERY DAY and IN MASSIVE VOLUMES. Their effects
to global environment are ALARMING!
Most ordinary cleaners contain ingredients that are non-biodegradable
and cannot be treated by wastewater treatment systems. Therefore, they
are released into the environment untreated, causing harm to aquatic life
and contaminating our drinking water resources as well as the fish that
we eat.
